The Knot Worldwide is seeking a full-stack engineer to join The Knot Registry team.

The Knot is the nation’s leading wedding marketplace, providing our couples with a personalized experience that guides them through the entire wedding planning journey. The Registry team develops tools for couples to register for gifts, for their guests to buy them, and the back-end systems to make it all happen stress-free. We are focused on streamlining the process for our users and on finding new ways to surface inspiration and advice where couples need it most.

New code at all levels of the stack is expected to be extensible, high performing, scalable, and secure. What you build will make the wedding registry process more enjoyable and less stressful for millions of users.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help develop The Knot’s suite of tools—front-end and back-end—for creating, managing, and contributing to wedding registries of all kinds.
  • Produce well-tested, maintainable, and efficient code for highly available and performant systems.
  • Be an advocate for quality and curious about technology. You should like exploring new ideas and sharing what you know about everything from architecture to process.
  • Collaborate in an Agile development process to help conceive, make, and deliver new products and features. You should have an opinion on how to delight our users, and enjoy collaborating closely with engineering, product, and design.

SUCCESSFUL SOFTWARE ENGINEER CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a software engineer building beautiful, scalable, and highly visible web applications.
  • Experience building new front-end features in React. Exposure to a range of front-end frameworks and libraries is a plus.
  • Experience working on APIs in a modern stack. We primarily use Node, Postgres, and Elasticsearch. Experience with other languages and tools is fine as well.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and containers is a plus. We use AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks on the back-end and front-end. You consider solid test coverage to be essential.
  • Comfort working in an agile process.
  • An ability to explain problems to technical and non-technical folks alike. A love for sharing knowledge and a desire to learn from others.
  • A passion for self-improvement. You constantly strive to expand your technical skill set and to improve the quality of your code.

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Knot is seeking a  Financial Systems Manager -  Quote to Cash based in the D.C. metro area to join our growing Enterprise Systems team and to be responsible of  modernizing and optimizing our Quote to Cash and Revenue Recognition processes and related systems. This role will report up to Director, Financial Systems and will work closely with our Sales Operations, Billing & Accounting and the rest of the Enterprise Systems teams ensuring that key revenue based objectives are coordinated between our stakeholders, end users and achieved on time meeting our standards and requirements. 

As the  Financial Systems Manager -  Quote to Cash you will not only have a chance to work in a broad environment of integrated enterprise level financial applications but also help develop documentation and change management procedures that will put us on a path to meeting future compliance goals.

We are building a diverse and highly skilled Financial Systems team, and we believe this role will play a big part in its continued success and future development. This role will guide and manage our Quote to Cash & Revenue Recognition based initiatives, ensuring their success and stability.

The  Financial Systems Manager -  Quote to Cash here at The Knot will have a great opportunity to help build our Financial Systems team into an efficient, adaptable, diverse, world class team we can all be very proud of.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with Accounting, Enterprise Systems, Sales & Billing teams to ensure that requirements are being met in ways that are technically sound and maintain stability in our Quote to Cash processes and systems.
  • Lead the Functional-Technical aspects of our Quote to Cash based system projects.
  • Plan and Manage data Migration and Integration efforts to and from ERP, Revenue Recognition systems and CRM (Salesforce)
  • Establish, define, and maintain documentation and process to ensure that changes to our Quote to Cash Systems are being made in an auditable, visible manner that maintains system integrity.
  • Determine when a particular project may be the best fit for a consulting group and then scope, hire, and manage a team as necessary.
  • Keep up to date on upcoming changes in Netsuite, Salesforce, Coupa and other Enterprise Systems, how they affect our implementation, and how they can be leveraged going forward.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing with our Accounting & Finance teams during development of new system customizations and integrations.
  • Supervise the implementation of system changes in our Quote to Cash Systems and ensure changes are being implemented in our defined change management and development processes. 
  • Be a driving force in implementing our issue reporting and troubleshooting processes to our end users
  • Work within the collaborative global Financial Systems department framework assisting in our team meeting our long term goals. 

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • A certification in PMP, an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Accounting, related field or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • A comprehensive understanding of Agile & PMI Project Management methodologies.
  • Knowledge and/or certification working with common enterprise financial cloud based systems such as Salesforce, ERP (Netsuite or Oracle preferred), Coupa and Revpro (Zuora Revenue or similar Rev Rec systems).
  • Experience managing, consulting teams and contract resources for various System projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with finance teams, auditors, technical teams, and system users at all levels in the organization.
  • A deep understanding of the ASC 606 Revenue standard and how to use enterprise systems to achieve compliance
  • A solid understanding of US GAAP
  • A detailed understanding of various integration platforms for moving data between enterprise systems, such as ETL tools (Dell Boomi) or fully custom integrations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, an analytical mind and strong interpersonal communication skills including the ability to relay technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience working within industry standard development processes to deploy changes in a structured, auditable method that allows for rollbacks and precise tracking of exactly what is changing.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a highly organized, self-directed team player with outstanding skills in Systems Administration with a focus on Microsoft Windows and macOS.  In this role, the IT Engineer will be a support person for all users in the Austin office as well as remote support for all other locations. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment and the ability to plan and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical partners at various levels within the organization.

The IT Engineer will report to the Senior Manager, End User Services in New York.

ABOUT THE QA Manager ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee QA Automation engineers responsible for our planning and guest products. 
  • Ensure the team is operating effectively to reach their goals, are properly supported and deliver quality software.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor multiple engineers at various stages of their career to ensure growth and cultivate emerging leaders.
  • Provide leadership within the team to ensure solutions are built in alignment with company principles.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including pre-IPM, IPM, standups, and retros.
  • Actively participate in establishing the broader automation strategy that supports our company goals.
  • Partner with other Senior QA Engineers to set the vision and iterate on the automation roadmap to effectively cover all business critical areas.

  • MBA or other related Masters Degree
  • PMP Certification or Agile SCRUM Master certificate, a Strong Plus
  • Extensive implementation and management experience with large global CRM systems (Salesforce)
  • Experience working effectively with cross functional and cross locations virtual/Remote teams

SUCCESSFUL SOFTWARE ENGINEER CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a software engineer building beautiful, scalable, and highly visible web applications
  • Minimum 1-year experience with Magento 
  • Working knowledge of PHP7, Apache/NGINX, Varnish, Redis, MySQL/SQL, Elasticsearch, CSS, Bootstrap, HTML5 / Javascript/jQuery
  • Understanding of server configuration, optimization, caching, and scaling techniques
  • Experience in one or more of the following technologies a bonus: Node, Ruby on Rails, React/Redux/ES6/Webpack, Postgres, Mongo. 
  • Familiarity with the latest Javascript technologies and experience building new front-end features in a modern framework such as React (exposure to a range of front-end frameworks and component libraries is a plus!)
  • Experience working with Cloud infrastructure platforms (experience with AWS a plus!) 
  • Experience in implementing, consuming, and optimizing APIs. 
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks on the back-end and front-end
