ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Knot Worldwide, the leading marketplace connecting engaged couples with event professionals, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional (like you!) to play a key role in providing accurate, valuable information to support the Management team. You will drive informed financial decision making, prepare and maintain reports and assist various levels of leadership with finance team procedures. You will report to the Senior Accountant and work closely with various members of the finance and leadership teams. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You are responsible for assisting with accounting month-end close procedures, including monthly reconciliations of all balance sheets and income statement accounts, and the maintenance of general ledger chart of accounts.
  • You will process vendor invoices and payments and employee expense reports (via Coupa).
  • While maintaining contracts and vendor agreement databases, you analyze and research accounts to ensure accuracy and to understand account balances and activity.
  • You interact with various levels of staff across accounting, legal and more, to obtain information, resolve issues and provide support on special projects, as needed.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports as needed
  • Conduct account analysis and research to ensure accuracy and understanding of account balances and activity.
  • Create and/or maintain process documentation and procedures for assigned tasks.
  • Provide support on special projects, as needed.

SUCCESSFUL JR. STAFF ACCOUNTANTS CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • A B.S. in Accounting (preferred) or relevant experience
  • Demonstrative experience in general ledger and accounts receivable and advance skills with the MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills and are self-motivated to take initiative and take pride in thoughtful work.
  • The ability to work well in a high-growth work environment, where flexibility is key.

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:  

The Senior Accountant will assist the accounting department and aid in providing information, primarily financial in nature, about company activities. Further, this role will perform complex accounting tasks, perform the accounting of certain international subsidiaries, and aid in the creation of internal as well as external financial reports on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist with month-end closing, including preparing and entering journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts for complex accounting activities and stand-alone international subsidiaries. 
  • Assist the Senior Accounting Manager in creating accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements.
  • Assist with financial audit preparation and responses including external audit, bank audits, 401 (k) audit and other audits as required 
  • Perform treasury functions for international subsidiaries, as required
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring adherence to company accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. 
  • Identify, research and resolve corporate accounting, auditing and operational issues. 
  • Document accounting policies and procedures 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Assist Senior Accounting Manager with special ad hoc projects

SUCCESSFUL SENIOR ACCOUNTANT CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA certification is required
  • Must have 3+ years of public accounting experience
  • Must be proficient with other computer based accounting software and MS Office products
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Strong general accounting skills and thorough knowledge of US GAAP and proposed new accounting standards
  • Ability to communicate and interface with internal stakeholders, external accountants, and auditors 
  • Ability to effectively extend knowledge and skills in a financial discipline
  • Working knowledge of Netsuite is a plus
