ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:  

The Global Assistant Controller will be stepping into a dynamic period of growth and acceleration at The Knot Worldwide. This person will help shape the growing finance team, as well as the future of the business. This position will report directly to the VP Accounting, Global Controller, with high levels of executive visibility working directly with the leadership team on various initiatives.

You will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and help head a high performing team.  You will be both a leader and a team player. By stepping into this role, you will take part in scaling the systems and processes, as well as position yourself as a key player in this period of hyper-growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the VP, Accounting, Global Controller in overseeing the activities of the global close team.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated close procedures and ensure the timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of information used to prepare internal financial reporting to management.
  • Maintain, implement, and sustain a global monthly accounting close deadline calendar ensuring that deadlines are met and workflow is completed timely.
  • Support financial statement reviews and audits with coordinating preparation of schedules and appropriate documentation, including working with colleagues located across our global footprint to complete statutory audits as required.
  • Support the tax team in completion of the quarterly and annual consolidated tax provision and VAT returns and other ad hoc requests
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff for the purpose of maintaining organized and detailed financial accounting records and files to document transactions and processes.
  • Manage the completion of close workpapers related to equity, purchase accounting, debt, state and local tax, and other complex accounting areas, as needed
  • Work closely with our tax team to administer the global transfer pricing policy including managing intercompany activity and tax implications.
  • Maintain and monitor a system of internal controls that will ensure the integrity of all systems, processes and data to provide accurate financial results.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new accounting processes.
  • Assist Global Controller with operationalizing technical accounting issues and coordination related to M&A activities and subsequent accounting integrations. 
  • Assist the Global Controller documenting and maintaining accounting policies and technical accounting interpretations.
  • Be a champion of change in a highly dynamic environment where leadership’s attitude to growth opportunities for the team really matters.
  • Assist Global Controller with special projects, migrations and implementations, as needed.

SUCCESSFUL ASSISTANT CONTROLLERS CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • 8-10 years of progressive finance experience
  • 10% travel, needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • M&A experience is preferred.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Minimum 6 years of finance oversight and operational work experience.
  • Experience managing a larger 15+ person organization.
  • You must be able to roll up your sleeves and set an example for the team and maintain a positive and motivating outlook.
  • Outstanding coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Experience in software companies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Netsuite preferred.
  • Must be proficient with other computer based accounting software and MS Office products. 
  • Strong general accounting skills and thorough knowledge of GAAP.
  • Ability to communicate and interface with external accountants and auditors 
  • Ability to effectively extend knowledge and skills in a financial discipline. 
  • Ability to reorganize priorities and respond quickly to issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, staff, vendors and customers. 
  • Must possess good managerial abilities.

We partner with teams across The Knot Worldwide to provide timely insights, reporting, and analysis on key business decisions. The Sr. Manager’s primary function is to coordinate, analyze and report financial information utilized in planning across the Company. This role provides management with reporting and analysis of monthly results on a consistent basis in addition to supporting ad-hoc finance projects. As a leader on TKWW’s FP&A team you will help scale our planning and analysis capabilities, globally, across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modeling – Identify key drivers and create financial models to reflect strategic priorities.
  • Analysis – Design and execute regular financial analysis to identify critical areas for attention and the evaluation of strategic options. 
  • Reporting - Preparation and presentation of financial reporting for management, the Board, and other key stakeholders.  Provide meaningful and informative analysis to explain any variations in the business results from the financial plan.  Focus on automation and system driven solutions.
  • Planning - Develop department-level financial budgets and forecasts utilizing inputs from department managers and project-focused spending plans. Establish a deep understanding of key drivers of each supported function and leverage data to build insights about our products and competitors.
  • Collaboration - Effectively collaborate with the Accounting team on completion of monthly and quarterly financial closes and incorporation of actual results into the rolling forecast.
  • Partner with department managers outside of the Finance and Accounting teams as necessary for forecast inputs, ad hoc analysis and process improvements.
  • Take initiative to automate management reporting and document business processes.
  • Help develop and monitor critical success metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Statistics, Computer Science).
  • 6+ years experience in a financial/analytical role with a record of increasing responsibility.  
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intense curiosity about understanding the key drivers of a multi-faceted business.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Excel.
  • Proficient knowledge of Google Sheets and Slides.  
  • Ability to build models from scratch as well as improve existing models, ensuring their quality, timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution focused.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and relationship building skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite, OneStream or Adaptive Insights, or other enterprise-grade financial systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in meetings and describe deliverables and project milestones.
  • Experience analyzing and manipulating large data sets.
  • Self-Starter that is willing to take initiative, be dedicated, set and drive towards goals.
  • Team player, highly collaborative and accountable, and a positive contributor to the team environment.
  • High Energy and innovative, with the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within short time constraints in a complex system.
  • Experience in investment banking, investment research, or big 4.
  • International business experience and Spanish language skills are both a plus.

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:  

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team is a global function that uses financial modeling to provide timely insight into business performance, accurate forecasts, and actionable recommendations to drive efficient growth. The (Sr.) Manager - FP&A, Marketing Analytics will lead and scale the company’s global efforts to grow and measure new and existing marketing strategies, in line with company goals . The Marketing Analytics Manager will sit within the FP&A team and work with cross functional teams in marketing and data analytics to drive actionable insights. In this role, you will partner with the CMO organization to drive the annual operating plan / budgeting process – facilitating the creation of objectives and key results and ensuring that targets, budgets and plans cascade down to each organization and team within the function. The ideal candidate will relish the opportunity to help TKWW’s marketing leadership efficiently deploy and grow their budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modeling – build models to understand the efficacy of new marketing campaigns (ROI, ROAS, LTV/CAC, multi-channel attribution, etc.)
  • Analysis - Understand and provide insights on user behavior, conversion data, customer journeys, funnel analysis and multi-channel campaigns
  • Reporting - Deliver monthly, cross-channel performance reports with actionable insights, including variances to expectations, forecast revisions, and recommendations to increase/decrease spend
  • Collaboration - Be a thoughtful and supportive business partner. Work with the CMO org to set OKRs and cascade goals down to the team, inform budget/forecast decisions, and ensure optimal deployment of resources
  • Innovation - Support our test & learn strategy, while spotting opportunities to try innovative new methodologies and improve the analytical rigor of our work
  • Benchmark performance to best-in-class and advise on KPIs based on performance analysis
  • Work with large volumes of complex data to filter signal from noise and extract insights

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Statistics, Computer Science)
  • 6+ years experience in a financial/analytical role with a record of increasing responsibility. 
  • Demonstrated experience using marketing analytics to drive business results
  • Ability to build strong cross functional partnerships. This role will partner with business units to develop a deep understanding of marketing initiatives and efficacy 
  • Intense curiosity about understanding the key drivers of a multi-faceted business
  • Expert-level knowledge of Excel and proficient with Google Analytics 360
  • Ability to build predictive models from scratch as well as improve existing models, ensuring their quality, timeliness and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution focused
  • Significant experience in a high growth technology company
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite, OneStream or Adaptive Insights, or other enterprise-grade financial systems
  • High Energy and innovative, with the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change
  • Experience with business intelligence analytics tools such as Tableau or Qlik; Basic SQL
  • International business experience and Spanish language skills are both a plus
