ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Head of Digital Merchandising is a newly created role, and will be responsible for developing, implementing and optimizing the overall assortment and selling strategy for our new Wedding Registry marketplace (launching in late 2019).

The ideal candidate will be highly driven, action-oriented and entrepreneurial. They will have a proven track record of driving ecommerce business and conversion growth (as a former Site Merchandising Manager or Director), and be excited about the opportunity to roll their sleeves up as a core member of the leadership team building, launching and scaling our Registry business in the months ahead.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a strategic vision for the assortment which supports the overall Registry strategy
  • Build a team responsible for defining and executing merchandising strategies (taxonomy, product set-up, navigation/sequencing, upsells/cross-sells, promotions and campaigns)
  • Monitor traffic, engagement and sales across categories, devices and cohorts - to drive conversion at each step and deliver the sales and margin plan
  • Collaborate with Business Development to identify and obtain the optimal assortment (across physical products and strategic partnerships)
  • Collaborate with Marketing on all merchandise and promotional campaign ideation, asset briefing/design, and linking strategies
  • Partner closely with Operations to monitor vendor inventory and fulfillment
  • Partner with the Product and Engineering teams to improve the shopping experience - as a key stakeholder in driving web enhancements

SUCCESSFUL HEAD OF DIGITAL MERCHANDISING CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • 7+ years of experience in e-commerce merchandising (Manager or Director Home category and/or Registry experience preferred)
  • Highly analytical and data-driven; experienced in web analytics and financial modeling
  • Knowledge of SEO techniques, UX best practices, and digital marketing strategies

The Manager, Registry Operations is a great opportunity for candidates seeking to leverage their combined business and technical leadership skills. We are looking for a savvy, organized, analytical, and positive individual with experience in Ecommerce, Marketplace Systems Mirakl and Magento, Affiliate Marketing technology, API/ETL data processing, and general web-platform best practices.

The Registry Operations team combines expert communication with deep technical systems knowledge to support operational excellence and improvement between our retail partners, suppliers, and our affiliate registry and Ecommerce systems. This position requires a strong technical mind with solid data experience to support team members.

This position in the Registry Operations department sits at the intersection of Business Development, User Experience, Product Analytics and Data Intelligence. The team is closely aligned to the Product organization, contributing to the practice of analytics-based decision making, driving the selection and adoption of new tools, and educating the Product and Design teams on their use. The position also works in close collaboration with the Data Science team to identify and cleanly capture the data required for algorithm development and analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and manage a team of operations technical specialists who own and monitor data integrations and database analysis with major retailers, monitor our internal marketplace supplier network, and other Ecommerce systems
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with internal technical, business, and product leadership and technical teams at the largest retailers, including Amazon, Bed Bath and Beyond, Crate & Barrel, Macy’s, etc.
  • Consult on and support technical projects and ongoing changes related to current and prospective partners
  • Oversee the investigation, tracking, and resolution of data and attribution outages

The Knot Magazine seeks a talented, creative and enthusiastic Photo Editor to join our team.  You're a match if you are resourceful, have a strong work ethic, are able to juggle a large volume of projects in a fast-paced environment & work within tight deadlines. This individual should be comfortable working independently and in a team identifying what works visually in the print and wedding industry. You will report directly to the Art Director and work closely with the art and editorial teams. This position is an in-office role based our of our NYC office; no remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently photo edit and research images for magazine production (original content articles and Real Weddings articles)
  • Work closely with the Real Weddings team to understand trends in wedding photography, style, and brand identity
  • Assist with fashion photo shoot production, model casting and administrative tasks
  • Produce and pick up styled shoots within quarterly magazine deadlines
  • Manage daily workflow of magazine files including tracking and releasing of hi-res images to production, as well as archival of final art
  • Contributes to other editorial department creative needs or projects, as needed
  • Collaborate with editorial team on story development and visual concepts
  • Responsible for caption and credit information in layouts

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the controller in overseeing the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements.
  • Maintain and monitor a system of internal controls that will ensure the integrity of all systems, processes and data to provide accurate financial results.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new accounting processes.
  • Identify, research and resolve corporate accounting, auditing and operational issues.
  • Assist the controller in providing guidance to management with respect to accounting policies and technical accounting interpretations.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures and ensure the timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of internal financial reporting to management.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Must have 3+ years of public accounting experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of Netsuite is a plus.

  • You will perform monthly revenue close activities including account reconciliations, flux analyses and generation of journal entries to ensure timely and accurate revenue reporting
  • You will assist with reviewing complex multiple-element revenue arrangements to ensure accurate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with company policies and ASC 606
  • You will assist in maintaining and updating documentation for revenue policies and procedures
  • You will aid in the development, testing and documentation of internal controls over the order-to-cash process
  • You will prepare revenue-related schedules for external auditors and coordinate PBC requests
  • You will assist in system implementation and process improvement projects to build an IPO-ready revenue accounting & operations function

SUCCESSFUL SENIOR REVENUE ACCOUNTANTS HAVE:

  • B.S. in Accounting and are a CPA or are working towards your CPA
  • At least 4-6 years of accounting experience, including public accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Netsuite preferred but not required
  • Possess, analytical, and technical skills to develop financial models using various software packages
  • Previous experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting with accounting month-end close procedures, including monthly reconciliations of all balance sheets and income statement accounts, and the maintenance of general ledger chart of accounts
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, audit packages and journal entries with referenced supporting documentation and process vendor invoices and payments and employee expense reports (via Concur)
  • While maintaining contracts and vendor agreement databases, you analyze and research accounts to ensure accuracy and to understand account balances and activity
  • Interact with various levels of staff across accounting, legal and more, to obtain information, resolve issues and provide support on special projects, as needed

SUCCESSFUL STAFF ACCOUNTANT CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • A B.S. in Accounting and are a CPA (or are working towards a CPA)
  • Demonstrative experience in general ledger and accounts receivable and advance skills with the MS Office Suite, specifically Excel

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Tax Manager will function as a member of the Finance Team and will oversee all aspects of US domestic tax, including the Tax Provision, Tax Compliance, Federal and State Taxes, Sales and Use tax and Franchise. This includes working directly with the Tax Director and the firm’s internal accounting and finance teams as well as actively managing external tax relationships with multiple 3rd party service firms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors the preparation of the federal and state income tax returns for corporations and subsidiaries
  • Calculate and prepare quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Prepare quarterly tax provisions, quarterly analysis of tax balance accounts, and annual reconciliation of all tax accounts
  • Interface with Corporate Accounting and FP&A for information needed to prepare quarterly and annual tax returns and provisions
  • Maintain documentation for uncertain tax positions and related reserves
  • Stay current on issues and developments affecting federal and state income taxes and document positions, as needed
  • Proactively provide timely information to Tax Director regarding the impact of tax law changes
  • Coordinate with Controller of e-Commerce and other e-Commerce managers on all sales tax matters
  • Coordination of tax consulting projects, including pre-approval of services and fees by audit committee, internal tracking of fees, outstanding invoices, payments and related accruals.

SUCCESSFUL TAX MANAGER CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Working, practical knowledge and hands-on approach for the differences between book/accrual accounting versus tax accounting concepts
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or related field required, Masters of Tax and/or CPA a plus
  • 3-5 years’ experience in tax compliance for federal and state income taxes, including public accounting exposure with sophisticated client base preferably consisting of publicly traded organizations with international operations.

The HR Business Partner working with the Marketing & Growth Ventures organizations will play a key member of the Talent Management Team. The Knot Worldwide is looking for a Senior HR Business Partner who will focus on two primary strategic initiatives for our organization. The first key part of this role will be to oversee all HR topics associated with our Technology and Product functions, and ensure they’re aligned with our business goals, partnering closely with our CTO and CPO as well as their leadership teams. Equally as important, this role will reach outside of the Technology and Product functions and interact with employees at all levels, across all teams, in our NY office. The Senior Manager, People Operations will be responsible for leading our organization’s HR Centers of Excellence. This role will oversee our Global HRIS + HR Systems, data reporting, analytics, and more. This individual will oversee the People Operations team through a time of transition in the organization. Key responsibilities of this role include process design, operational support for the HR Business Partner team, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Employee and Office Experience teams. This position is a vital role in retaining customers, collecting online ad assets, upselling current clients and surpassing your customers’ expectations!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately, efficiently and professionally answer all incoming calls and emails
  • Onboard clients successfully into their partnership with The Knot & WeddingWire local marketplace
  • Upsell current clients to new products to enhance their business
  • Save current customers from cancelling their partnership
  • Problem-solve technical questions and issues that customers may have and work cross-departmentally to resolve them

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Lead Software Engineer (you!) will bring a wide range of professional expertise and knowledge to our global Product Development team as we create the very best wedding experience for couples, their guests and vendors--our small business customers. Our newly created Internal Tools team will be responsible for developing proprietary software that will be used by WeddingWire employees.  This team designs, builds and maintains high quality, scalable product deployments to backend systems and tools that are critical to internal team workflows.  This team will also oversee systems and third party integrations that are critical to our business-facing operations.  You will execute strategy surrounding code deployments and manage the foundation and framework for others to be effective throughout the release process,  You will participate in productive, results-driven business discussions and decision making.  The cherry on top, you will continue to advance personal skill set and domain knowledge while helping others progress through mentorship opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as part of our Internal Tools team to evaluate and execute designs and improvements to systems that power admin interfaces, sales, contract management systems, and billing integrations.  
  • Implement designs quickly and efficiently with minimal error, or delegate lower level tasks to more Junior developers when appropriate.
  • Ensure that systems are maintained and scalable and that tech debt remains minimal during and after feature development.  Technological choices should be made thoughtfully so their impacts do not hinder future development.
  • Participate in and provide technical insight on business discussions and decision making; facilitating productive conversations that drive positive business results.
  • Manage code deployments, and provide the foundation and framework for others to be effective in doing so as well.
  • Champion developers and ensure their voices are heard and tech debt remains minimal, to ensure product development either does not slow down, or begins happening more quickly.
  • Lead design and implement mechanisms to share data securely and efficiently between teams.
  • Assist in automating the developer toolkit to provide recurring value to the company over time; enabling quicker ramp times for new employees and more efficient internal transfers.
  • Participate in--and raise the bar for--technical hiring across the Product Development organization. Inspire external developers to join the company and help raise the overall technical excellence of the team.
  • Automate the quality assurance phase of the development cycle through rigorous automation testing, ensuring quality remains high.
  • Enable and participate in a DevOps culture in the Product Development organization. Monitor system uptime, response times, and product quality; and participate in issue resolution by being on-call for work delivered.

SUCCESSFUL SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or 6-8 years of relevant engineering experience; hands-on coding is required
  • Professional experience and proficiency in coding and delivering product in PHP and at least one other interpreted web-friendly scripting language (Ruby, Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Experience integrating custom codebases with enterprise software systems such as Salesforce or Netsuite and with systems that facilitate credit card transactions
  • Full knowledge of the web stack is necessary
  • Experience in one or more of the technologies we use today: Ruby on Rails, React/Redux/ES6/Webpack, PHP, MySQL, Sphinx, Elasticsearch, Redis, Chef, Docker, Apache and NGINX
  • Managerial or technical lead experience is a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a talented team of full-stack and mobile engineers
  • Provide mentorship to all members of the team, coaching team members on their personal and career development
  • Actively participate in the ideation and execution of product roadmap

ABOUT THE SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER ROLE AND THE PLANNING TOOLS TEAM:

The Knot Worldwide is seeking a talented and driven full-stack engineer to join The Knot Planning Tools team.

The Knot is the nation’s leading wedding marketplace, providing our couples with a completely personalized experience that guides them through the entire wedding planning journey. The planning tools team develops our industry leading suite of planning tools, including the Checklist, Budgeter, Wedding Vision, Wedding Day Timeline, and Vendor Manager. We are focused on streamlining this suite of tools to meet couples where they are in their planning journey, and on finding new ways to surface wedding inspiration and advice where couples need it most.

The apps you will be working on greet new users on their dashboard and are integral to solving user pain points and business goals. We have ambitious, experiment-driven milestones but we also have a commitment to quality. New code at all levels of the stack is expected to be extensible, high performing, scalable, and secure. What you build will make the wedding planning process more enjoyable and less stressful for millions of users.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a senior engineer on the Planning Tools team helping develop The Knot’s suite of tools that couples use to inspire, plan, book, and manage their wedding.
  • Produce well-tested, maintainable code on the back-end and front-end that can stand up to 100,000 requests per day.
  • Collaborate in the Agile development process to help architect, build, and ship new products and features.
  • Be an advocate for coding best practices on the team, and stay up-to-date on new technologies and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to other engineers on the team, and act as a mentor to more junior teammates.
  • Engage with the tech organization beyond our team by participating in company-wide decisions on architecture, data, and process patterns.
  • Partner with Product to maintain the right balance between feature and technical work.

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 4 years experience as a software engineer building beautiful, scalable, and highly visible web applications.
  • Experience working on the server-side in a modern application stack. We primarily use Node and Postgres, with some Ruby and Mongo. Strong experience with other languages or persistence layers is fine as well.
  • Familiarity with the latest Javascript technologies and experience building new front-end features in a modern framework such as React. Exposure to a range of front-end frameworks and component libraries is a plus.
  • Experience working with Cloud infrastructure platforms. Experience with AWS a plus.
  • A track record of delivering creative solutions to complex architectural problems.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks on the back-end and front-end. You consider solid test coverage to be a critical part of the development process.
  • Comfort working with Agile principles. You are an advocate for Agile processes and a strong believer in the importance of Agile when producing high-quality software.
