Workspace designed with sustainability, the local economy and flexibility in mind

NEW YORK, NY, October 26, 2023 — The Knot Worldwide, a leading global marketplace and family of brands championing celebration, is proud to announce the opening of its new office in the heart of Barcelona. Previously, The Knot Worldwide staff in the region had worked out of two separate offices, but now they are unified under one roof. Featuring an abundance of greenery, preservation of classic architectural details and a contemporary interior design, the new space represents a significant upgrade for local employees. The new office, located at Carrer de Pau Claris, 89, marks an expansion in the company’s global presence and reflects its commitment to enhancing the wedding planning experience for couples and supporting industry professionals around the world.

The Knot Worldwide welcomed employees into its new Barcelona office for the first time on October 23, 2023, and an official ribbon-cutting opening event will take place today, October 26, 2023. The Knot Worldwide does not uniformly mandate in-office days, instead empowering employees to work where they are most productive. Those who choose to work in the office are urged to take advantage of nearby eco-friendly transportation options—such as the metro, train, or bus—to reduce emissions. The entire workspace was created to underscore the company’s focus on sustainability, flexibility and comfort. Barcelona-based employees span multiple departments and specialties; many are dedicated to Bodas.net, a brand that powers leading wedding-planning marketplaces, planning tools, and mobile apps across Europe, Central America and South America.

The historic building, which has stood for over a century, underwent an extensive renovation and The Knot Worldwide transformed it into a modern workspace between 2022 and 2023. Spanning 39,064 square feet across four of the building’s seven floors, the office offers a range of workspaces to cater to the needs of up to 300 team members, including 122 bookable traditional desks, 64 collaborative seats, 14 flexible seating areas, 9 phone booths and 17 conference rooms.

Natural light abounds, and each floor has an outdoor area, including a spacious terrace with seating attached to the café. The building also offers amenities such as a scooter and bike room with charging stations, a film and photography studio, an onboarding space, and a mural by renowned local artist Perrine Honore, featuring Barcelona landmarks.

“I’m proud of our team for putting a great deal of thought into the design and buildout of our office,” added Chi. “Sustainability and contributing to the vibrant business community were among our top priorities. We partnered with local producers to source construction materials and furnish the space, selecting recycled items whenever possible. In day-to-day work at our beautiful new office, we will continue to find ways to support the local economy and embrace eco-conscious practices.”

Like The Knot Worldwide’s other locations around the world, the new Barcelona office will limit use of paper, maintain refillable water stations to reduce plastic bottles and encourage use of public transportation. The Knot Worldwide has office locations in the U.S. spanning Austin, Texas; New York, N.Y.; Omaha, Neb.; Portland, Ore.; and Washington D.C., along with international office locations in Delhi, India; Galway, Ireland; and London, England.
