WeddingWire Earns Perfect Score in 2018 Corporate Equality Index For the Third Year

Global Wedding Marketplace Receives 100 Percent on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 16th Annual Scorecard on LGBTQ Workplace Equality

CHEVY CHASE, MD — November 9, 2017 — WeddingWire Inc., the leading global online marketplace connecting consumers with event and creative professionals, proudly announced that it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This marks the third consecutive year the organization has received the honor. WeddingWire joins the ranks of 609 major U.S. businesses which also earned 100 percent this year.

“WeddingWire is thrilled to be recognized by the HRC for the third year in a row for our commitment to and celebration of diversity and inclusion,” said Tim Chi, CEO and Co-Founder of WeddingWire. “We have always been and will continue to be committed to ensuring the highest quality experience for everyone we serve, both inside and outside our doors.”

In addition to receiving top marks in this year’s Corporate Equality Index, WeddingWire is among other leading organizations across the country that signed a Human Rights Campaign-led amicus brief in the Supreme Court case Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, arguing that businesses should be open to all. WeddingWire has its own non-discrimination policy and supports laws that protect against discrimination, including the Equality Act, which would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to prevent discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. Support for equality-driven business and the implementation of non-discrimination policies that promote inclusivity is both meaningful and necessary in an industry — like weddings — that is celebratory of love for all.

The 2018 CEI rated 947 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. WeddingWire’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
