WeddingWire Launches the Something Blue Campaign to Reduce Wedding Stress

Chevy Chase, MD–May 1, 2016–Today, WeddingWire, Inc., the global leader for online wedding planning, launched the Something Blue campaign, WeddingWire’s new initiative to reduce wedding stress. Three out of five engaged couples report feeling significant stress and pressure to have the perfect wedding, and this stress is taking away from what weddings are really about–love and commitment. The goal of the Something Blue campaign is to change this, and WeddingWire is encouraging all engaged couples to join in by taking the pledge to not let stress take over the wedding planning process or the big day itself.

Engaged couples who take the Something Blue Pledge will receive exclusive tips, tools, and the official Something Blue band to remind them to reduce wedding stress. In addition, national brands including TOMS, Zeel, Bow & Drape, Rent the Runway, The Bouqs, and GLAMSQUAD have joined the campaign to offer exclusive deals to couples who take the pledge. Engaged couples are also encouraged to take the day off of wedding planning and spend time with loved ones for the National Day Without Wedding Planning on Sunday, May 15th. Those who visit WeddingWire.com on May 15 will see a pop-up encouraging them to take the pledge and the day off of planning.

“Even though wedding planning is supposed to be a fun and exciting experience for engaged couples and their families, we know that brides and grooms frequently find themselves stressed out and overwhelmed with all of the tasks that need to be completed,” says Kim Forrest, Editor at WeddingWire. “Couples may find it difficult to take a step back and remember the real meaning behind their wedding day. That’s why we’re encouraging engaged couples to take the Something Blue Pledge and celebrate the National Day Without Wedding Planning—to put things into perspective and spend time with loved ones.”

WeddingWire is asking couples to share how they’re keeping their pledge to reduce wedding stress by using the hashtag #wedosomethingblue and tagging WeddingWire on social media. During the campaign, WeddingWire will also share tips and tricks each week from wedding professionals on how couples can reduce wedding stress.
