The Knot Worldwide Sponsored the August Des Moines Wedding Show, With a Focus on Helping Wedding Vendors Get Discovered and Convert High-Quality Leads
The Knot Worldwide returned to Des Moines, IA from Aug. 29–30, 2026 to sponsor the Des Moines Wedding Show, with a focus on helping local wedding professionals strengthen how they get discovered by engaged couples, communicate with high-quality leads, and turn those inquiries into new business. During the course of the weekend, The Knot Worldwide hosted an exclusive educational session for participating vendors, met with dozens of vendors in 1:1 sessions, and brought the local wedding community together for a closing networking event.
The focus on lead generation comes at an exciting time for Iowa’s wedding industry. According to The Knot Worldwide’s data, an estimated 16,000 weddings take place in Iowa each year, with couples spending an average of $24,000 on their celebrations. That represents an estimated $453 million in annual wedding spending across the state.
For the local businesses serving those couples, being discovered is the first step. Converting that discovery into a meaningful conversation - and ultimately a booking - is where effective lead management becomes critical.

Helping Wedding Vendors Connect With Engaged Couples
The Knot Worldwide’s Vendor Marketplace connects wedding professionals with couples actively searching for vendors and planning their weddings.
In Iowa alone, more than 1,600 wedding vendors are listed across The Knot and WeddingWire.. Iowa couples hire an average of 13 wedding vendors for their celebrations, spanning categories including venues, catering, photography, florals, music and entertainment, and beauty. With couples evaluating multiple vendors across an average planning journey of 12-18 months, appearing in front of the right couple at the right time creates a valuable opportunity for local businesses.
At the Des Moines Wedding Show, The Knot Worldwide team focused on helping vendors understand how to capitalize on that opportunity - not simply by generating inquiries, but by turning high-quality leads into conversations that lead to bookings.
The Knot Worldwide Vendor Education: Turning Leads Into Meaningful Conversations
The exclusive education session for participating vendors was led by Caroline Buras, VP, Head of U.S. Sales. During her presentation, Buras focused on how wedding professionals can convert high-quality leads into bookings.
Drawing on WeddingPro’s From Hello to Hired: Your Guide to Lead Replies, Buras highlighted the importance of responding quickly and creating a two-way conversation. Couples are 2.7 times more likely to respond when a vendor asks a question in their reply and 2.2 times more likely to respond when a vendor responds within three hours. For vendors receiving leads through The Knot and WeddingWire, those first few hours are critical in securing a booking.
Buras encouraged vendors to follow a “12-second ” and “one-swipe” rule for their first response: keep it short, make the value clear, and give couples an easy reason to engage. Rather than overwhelming leads with attachments or multiple requests, vendors should offer something genuinely helpful, such as a proposed photography shot list, playlist ideas, planning timeline, local recommendations, or wedding trend tips.
She also emphasized creating urgency and clearly communicating the value a vendor brings. Relevant incentives, such as complimentary upgrades or additional services, can give couples a reason to take the next step while helping vendors differentiate themselves.
Finally, Buras encouraged thoughtful follow-up, from summary emails that reinforce a vendor’s value to low-pressure final messages that make it easy for couples to reengage.
The takeaway: generating a high-quality lead is only the beginning. Fast, helpful and personalized communication helps vendors turn opportunities into booked business.

Bringing Lead Generation and Local Connection Together
Beyond the education session, Buras and members of The Knot team spent Sunday meeting one-on-one with dozens of wedding professionals on the show floor. The conversations gave vendors an opportunity to discuss their businesses and marketing goals, while receiving guidance on how to strengthen their presence on The Knot and WeddingWire, improve their digital marketing, and make the most of opportunities to connect with engaged couples.
The weekend also included a WeddingPro Happy Hour at Hotel Fort Des Moines, bringing members of the local wedding professional community together to network and connect.
The weekend marked The Knot Worldwide’s second time partnering with Wedding Show Productions in 2026. We want to thank Gina Cramer and Ryan Kolder for welcoming the team back to Des Moines and for their continued partnership. We can’t wait for the next event!
